REFLECTION: CHAPTER 3 (EVOLUTION OF CALL)

Previously I wrote on the introduction of CALL. So, for now I will give you view of the CALL's evolution.

PROGRESSION OF CALL

1. Behaviouristic CALL

• used for Audio-Lingual method.
• it helps for the pronunciation.

The Standford Project

• repetition is beneficial for learning.
• can provide immediate feedback.
• students can work at their own pace.
• it is efficient.

2. Communicative CALL

• focused on the usage of language rather than grammar.

Computer as tutor, stimulus and tool.

3. Integrated  CALL 

• use of CD-ROMs
• became popular of high speed internet and widely accessible hypermedia.

What is hypermedia?

Hypermedia is non-linear medium of information that include texts, audio and graphical media.
